19-year-old Yakima native announces candidacy for state House position

YAKIMA, Wash. - A 19-year-old Yakima native has announced his candidacy against state Republican Gina McCabe.

Noah Ramirez graduated from Eisenhower High School last year and at the same time received an associate's degree through a college program.

Ramirez is just a few months away from receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington.

He said he feels ready and able to represent his community.

“I want to do something and I want to help those around me that can't necessarily get the help by themselves and I just figured the best way to maximize that potential is to just go out there and be a good representative,” said Ramirez.

If elected Ramirez said he will focus on civic engagement, opioid abuse and on funding community health centers.

Ramirez will kick off a listening tour next month so the community can get to know him.
