Suspect in AMBER Alert found dead with self-inflicted gunshot wound

UPDATE: The AMBER Alert standoff has come to an end, after deputies entered the house to find the suspect with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound, our news partner KXLY4 reports. 

ORIGINAL: SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - An AMBER Alert issued throughout Washington state early Tuesday morning has been canceled. The alert was issued after a five-year-old boy was adbucted from Spokane Valley. He has been located safely by law enforcement. 

Authorities are now on scene in St. John where they believe the suspect, Justin P. Robertson, is barricaded inside a house. 

Deputies said Robertson took his son Ethan from a home at 12808 E Blossey Ave. around 5:00 a.m. and took the boy to Whitman County. 

Deputies responded to a panic alarm at the Spokane Valley home and heard a woman inside the home screaming for help. They went in through an open back door and found the woman bleeding from stab wounds. 

The woman told deputies she had recently served Robertson with divorce papers. She said he had stabbed her and taken off with their son. 

The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but she is now expected to survive.
