Bicyclist hit by truck in Walla Walla, taken to hospital with serious injuries

A woman was seriously injured after being hit by a truck on Tuesday afternoon in Walla Walla.

According to Sergeant Eric Knudson with the Walla Walla Police Department, the 45-year-old woman was riding her bike north on a sidewalk on S. 2nd Avenue when a truck, that was driving east on W. Poplar Street, approached the red light.

Sergeant Knudson says the driver believed it was clear when he made a right turn onto S. 2nd Avenue, but he struck the bicyclist.

The woman was taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center with serious injury. According to the sergeant, the woman had a major leg injury.
