Kennewick man charged after police find massive child porn stash at his work

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Prosecutors have filed felony charges against Daniel Jay Bunch after police said they found a massive stash of child porn at his family's business.

Bunch, 39, was arrested at his Kennewick home July 11 by members of the Southeast Regional Crimes Against Children task force.

Investigators became aware of his alleged criminal activity in October 2018 after finding evidence of child porn being downloaded and shared from a computer at Bunch Finnigan Appliances, where the defendant has worked for over two decades.

On July 10, authorities found probable cause to raid the store, where they found a laptop connected to a 3-terabyte hard drive that was 99% full of videos and photos of children engaged in sexual activity. There was also a 10-terabyte hard drive that was 3% full of similar content.

As they were inside the store, they noticed that someone was accessing one of the main computers at the business remotely. That person was going through different web pages, which included Daniel Bunch's Facebook account, court documents said.

Around 3 a.m. the next day, Bunch was arrested on suspicion of three counts of dealing and two counts of possessing child pornography. Prosecutor Laurel Holland said charges on all five counts were filed Monday.

Bunch will appear in Benton County Superior Court for his arraignment Tuesday afternoon. He's being held in lieu of $200,000 bond.
