Firehouse Subs is now open in Kennewick!
The sandwich shop opened at 10799 Ridgeline Drive near the I-82 interchange on Tuesday, May 14. It's attached to the SunMart convenience store building.
Shawn Sanderson, district manager of Firehouse and SunMart, says about a dozen people were waiting outside to try their food before they opened at 10:30 a.m. He said just after 11 a.m., the entire lobby -- which has a 50-person capacity -- was completely full.
The restaurant is decorated with firefighter helmets, axes and other gear donated by the Kennewick Fire Department.
The place is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Third-party delivery and catering are also available.
Sanderson said the most popular sub has been the Hook & Ladder, which comes with smoked turkey breast, Virginia honey ham and Monterey-Jack cheese.
He said since coming to the Northwest, the chain has raised $466,000 for lifesaving equipment for fire and police departments in Washington, and donations are distributed locally. The new store has a goal of purchasing a rescue boat for the Kennewick Fire Department.
Firehouse Subs opened a restaurant in Burbank in 2017.
