Five suspects arrested in warrant sweep, four are documented gang members

YAKIMA, Wash. - On Friday, the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, operating out of Yakima, the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Department of Corrections, conducted a warrant sweep in the Wapato and Toppenish areas.

Fugitives with outstanding felony warrants were sought.

Officers and Deputies located five wanted fugitives during the sweep.

The fugitives were taken into custody on the warrants.

One suspect was also found at the time of arrest with a controlled substance and will have additional charges.

A total of eight outstanding warrants were cleared during the apprehension of these fugitives.

The warrants ranged from Escape Community Custody to Assault Third Degree and Drive-By Shooting.

Four of the five arrested are documented gang members.

While attempting to locate these suspects, deputies located a license plate to a current stolen vehicle.

Investigations will continue to attempt to locate the vehicle.

At a location in the Toppenish area, a separate stolen vehicle was located.  This vehicle had been stolen since October 2016, where it was taken in an armed robbery/carjacking in the City of Yakima.  The vehicle was secured into evidence and investigations will follow.
