Judge rules in favor of the City of Selah in apartment complex inspection

YAKIMA, Wash. - On Friday a judge was in favor of the city of Selah and is taking action towards a property owner.

The judge ruled that the city of Selah will proceed with inspections on structural and safety violations to an apartment complex located at 519 S. First St.

In October a Selah woman fell through her apartment’s bathroom floor and had to be rescued by firefighters.

The owner said he had to evict the woman so he could make repairs.

When city official went back to the apartment they noticed that the floor had not been repaired and that other apartments were also in bad conditions.

The owner of the property was upset because the city was inspecting his property without his permission.

City Administrator Donald Wayman said he was happy with the decision.

“We’re going to move forward to make sure that the property is safe and habitable,” said Wayman.

We will continue to update you with what the city finds during their next inspection.
