UPDATE: One person has been arrested in connection to the shooting. Two other suspects are still on the run.
The person who was taken into custody has been booked at the Benton County Jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Police say this was gang-related, and the public is not at risk.
"We're very committed to the community's safety, and we just want them to make sure that they call if they see anything," said Kennewick officer Becca Henry. "Don't hesitate to call. If you see anything that is unusual or anything that kind of makes you feel a little odd, please don't hesitate to call or report anything."
Henry added that retaliation is always a possibility with cases like this.
"Any sort of crime, especially that's elevated to this level, we always take into consideration the backlash," Henry said. "We always take into consideration kind of what could happen, and we have a proactive response to that."
The suspect's name is not being released at this time, police said.
