According to the Kennewick Fire Department, the call for help came in just before 7:30 p.m.Â
One of the people at the home was able to tell others inside the house to get out. Firefighters on the way to the scene said they could see a column of smoke from several blocks away. In less then four minutes, KFD was on the scene and firefighters said there was an active fire under the patio of the home that was spreading quickly around the yard.
The fire had also spread to the home's kitchen and had even crawled into the attic of the home. Firefighters were able to put out the fire from the backyard and then entered the home to put out the flames there.
Fire agencies from around Kennewick assisted the KFD on the scene of a house fire on Monday evening.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, however, fire officials said they believed the fire started in the area of the back patio.
The Kennewick Police Department, Benton County Fire District #1, Pasco Fire Department and the Benton Public Utility District also assisted the KFD at the scene.
Firefighters from Kennewick and other agencies responded to a garage fire Monday afternoon. One of the residents was treated for smoke inhalation.
While there were several other fire calls Monday, a garage fire also brought firefighters out just after 3 p.m. Monday. No one was hurt but there was heavy damage to the garage and a part of the home. One person there was also treated for smoke inhalation.
The Kennewick Fire Department is asking people to think twice before doing activities that could lead to a fire.Â
