Man steals pythons worth $600 from Petco in Richland

RICHLAND, Wash. - A man stole two pythons worth a total of about $600 from Petco in Richland on Monday, the Richland Police Department tells KAPP-KVEW.

The man simply walked into the store on Queensgate Drive, opened a cage that contained two albino ball pythons, took them out and concealed them somehow before walking out of the store, said police spokeswoman Cerise Peck.

Each snake costs approximately $300 at the store, said Peck.

Peck said it's possible the man accessed the cage after watching an employee enter their pin, but police are unsure.

Petco employees didn't realize the snakes were stolen until Tuesday, when they noticed the snakes were missing and checked security footage.

RPD is asking the public for help to identify the alleged thief. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to call 509-628-0333 and notify police.
