YAKIMA, Wash. - On Friday evening Representative Dan Newhouse helped serve food at the Annual Christmas Dinner at Henry Beauchamp Community Center.
Over 28 years the center has served meals to local community members during the holidays.
This year it is estimated the center served nearly 3,000 people and provided gifts for all of the children that attended the event.
Director Adrianne Garner said Newhouse visited the center about a month ago and she told him about the annual Christmas dinner.
“I’m so ecstatic that he is here with us, it really means a lot,” said Garner. “He took the time out of his busy schedule to be here.”
Over the years Inocencia Velazquez has been attending the dinner with her family. She heard about it from her son who attends Adams Elementary School.
“It’s nice that they do this for us, my kids get really happy coming here,” said Velazquez. “We plan on coming again next year and continue the family tradition.”
