SELAH, Wash. - A 58-year-old man has been arrested after police say he kidnapped a Selah woman off the street and raped and sexually assaulted her at multiple locations.
Billy Lee Crosswhite was arrested on suspicion of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and forcible indecent liberties.
Selah police say about 10 p.m. on July 30, a woman was walking in the area of West Naches Avenue and Crusher Canyon Road when Crosswhite pulled up and demanded she get into his truck.
When she said no, Crosswhite allegedly got out of the truck, grabbed the woman by her hair and forced her into the vehicle, according to court documents.
The woman told police she attempted to escape, but with child locks engaged, she couldn't open the door to the truck.
Crosswhite drove the truck to a parking lot across from Lince Elementary School, 316 W. Naches Ave. — less than a mile from where she was taken — and sexually assaulted the woman inside the vehicle.
Police say Crosswhite then drove to his home, forced the woman into his bedroom, handcuffed her to the bed, locked the door and raped her multiple times.
The woman told police she remained handcuffed to the bed until about 9 a.m., when Crosswhite allegedly released her after she said knew someone in the Yakima Police Department.
Crosswhite is being held in the Yakima County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
