5-hour standoff

BENTON CITY, Wash. -- Authorities have arrested a man suspected of pistol-whipping another man at a Kennewick apartment Wednesday shortly after midnight.

At about 3 p.m., several law enforcement agencies surrounded Antione Surge's home on Williams Road near Highland Road after someone provided a tip to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

Multiple agencies including Kennewick Police, Pasco Police, the BCSO and Tri-City Regional SWAT surrounded the home and called out the suspect. Three uninvolved people exited the home, but Surge refused to come out.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the home and after about five hours, they were able to go inside and apprehend the suspect.

Surge was taken into custody to be booked at the Benton County Jail for the assault.
