PASCO, Wash. -- Three people were taken to a hospital for minor burns and smoke inhalation after their house caught fire Monday afternoon on Riverhawk Lane near Three Rivers Drive.
At about 5:30 p.m., the Pasco Fire Department received a call about an active fire at a home located at 6115 Riverhawk Lane. Five people were at home, but not all of them were inside the house, according to Pasco Fire spokesman Ben Shearer.
At the scene, they found the garage and two vehicles completely involved with flames. The fire quickly spread to other parts of the house, causing significant damage. With smoke and heat damage, the home will likely be a total loss, said Shearer.
Firefighters were able to salvage some of the family's personal belongings as they worked to put out the fire.
The fire appears to have started in the garage, but the cause remains under investigation.
