WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The Walla Walla County Traffic Safety Task force is running its Tipsy Taxi transportation service for party goers on New Year's Eve.
Entering its 11th year, Tipsy Taxi drives patrons around Walla Walla to their party destinations and homes for free. Volunteers in the program aim to help decrease DUIs and drunk driving accidents during the holiday season.
Local businesses sponsor the program by donating cars and recruiting volunteer drivers.
Tipsy Taxi's coordinator Nancy McClenny-Walters said the community effort makes a difference.
"We don't want anybody to be in any sort of collision or injure anybody else or themselves," McClenny-Walters said.
The program currently runs from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. but expects to run two hours later on New Year's Eve.
