A Walla Walla officer tells us the mailbox exploded at about midnight near Rainville and Frog Hollow Road, right next to a pasture where horses were sleeping.

Metal went flying, but fortunately did not injure any horses.

As of early Monday morning, deputies still don't have a suspect lead.
