Wapato SD: 7 middle school students took 'tabs,' showed signs of hallucinating

School District: Wapato students took 'tabs'

WAPATO, Wash. -- Seven students at Wapato Middle School on Wednesday ingested small tabs and showed symptoms associated with psychedelic drugs, according to the Wapato School District.

Four of the students were taken to a local hospital as a precaution. The other three were sent home. All of them appear to be safe, the school district said.

While the school district has not confirmed what the substance was, they shared images of the tab that was ingested by the students. The tab in the photo appears to be similar to ones consumed with the psychedelic drug LSD, also known as "acid."

The school district has posted the photos of the “tabs” and information regarding them to the District and building websites.

The school district has shared photos and information with all district staff so they can be on the lookout for the tabs and students displaying symptoms.

The school was on a modified lockdown from 12:25 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday while medics responded to the incident.

The school district is conducting an investigation.
