He joined the Toppenish Police Department for a year, then joined the force in Yakima in 1982. He has been serving in Yakima for the last 35 and a half years.

“I will miss the camaraderie with my fellow officers,” Cruz said.

He was honored and congratulated by Yakima Police Chief Dominic Rizzi on an outstanding career, police said.

“We wish you the best in your retirement and your next venture in life,” Chief Rizzi said.
