2021 NFL Draft on KAPP-KVEW: MVP Aaron Rodgers might be on the move

2021 Nfl Draft Tonight

Starting at 5:00 p.m. tonight on KAPP-KVEW, the lives of 32 young men will change forever as the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft kicks off. Even before today’s bombshell news was announced, football fans were buzzing with excitement about the next generation of stars joining their favorite team.

However, things got a lot spicer when reports that the NFL’s reigning MVP wants out from the only team he’s ever played for.

That’s right — Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants out, as reported by ESPN Insider Adam Schefter.

NFL Draft on KAPP-KVEW: Who are the top players in the draft class?

A perennial MVP candidate widely regarded as one of the sport’s top talents, Rodgers is a goliath in the world of pro football. The timing of this announcement couldn’t feel more planned as hours from now, teams will engage in one of the best times for trades: Draft time! There’s an expectation that teams will be discussing deals to acquire Rodgers on draft night and the first round is the best time for it.

Though it’s a real possibility, it’d be a bit surprising to see a deal get done on draft night. However, it’s the topic of conversation that will loom over the event and certainly over the Packers’ pick at No. 29. Teams near the top of the draft may be inclined to offer franchise-alerting first-round picks to lure one of the greatest talents in pro sports. Rodgers instantly changes the projection of even the worst teams, making today the prime-time for Green Bay to receive a substantial offer for its star QB.

The NFC West is constantly evolving with each team clashing for dominance. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that the San Francisco 49ers, a direct rival to the Seattle Seahawks, pursued a Rodgers trade as soon as they heard he was unhappy.

However, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst recently re-affirmed that Rodgers would be the team’s “quarterback for the foreseeable future” despite issues during contract re-negotiations. It could all be smoke and mirrors for the time being, but this storyline adds an exciting wrinkle that will send waves throughout the NFL.

The draft will take place over the course of three days beginning tonight at 5:00 p.m. As a result, KAPP-KVEW local news is on at 4:00, 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night. We’ll be airing all three days of the draft, so keep it locked to KAPP-KVEW and YakTriNews for your NFL Draft coverage!
