One person dead following two-vehicle crash in Yakima County
YAKIMA, Wash. — Yakima County deputies, the Highland Fire Department, and Washington State Patrol responded to the crash at the intersection of North Tieton Road and Rosenkranz Road on Thursday at about 5 p.m.
A truck was travelling east on Rosencrantz Road, and failed to stop at a stop sign, while a twelve passenger Ford van was traveling north on North Tieton Road. According to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, the van had the right-of-way.
The front of the truck struck the center of the driver’s side of the van, causing the van to roll over onto its side.
There were several people in the van at the time that it was struck, and all of them were transported to area hospitals.
One of those passengers died at the hospital, according to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office. Their identity has not yet been made available.
This is the 11th fatal collision that the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit has investigated this year on county roads.
