Othello woman injured in car crash north of Tri-Cities

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. — An Othello woman was transported to the hospital after another driver failed to yield the right of way and collided with her vehicle north of the Pasco city limits.
According to a press release issued by the Washington State Patrol, the accident took place around 2:25 p.m. on Friday afternoon. One driver was headed westbound on E Vinyard Dr. and prepared to turn into a southbound lane of U.S. Highway 395; roughly two miles north of the Tri-Cities.

The 56-year-old victim was traveling northbound on S.R. 395 approaching E Vinyard Dr when the 19-year-old driver failed to yield the right of way, causing the victim to collide with the other driver. Local authorities say that both people involved in the crash wore their seatbelts, but the Othello woman was hurt in the crash and was transported to Lourdes Medical Center to be treated for her injuries.
Washington State Patrol troopers determined that drug and alcohol did not play a factor in this incident. The younger driver was reportedly charged with failure to yield the right of way. Her vehicle sustained reportable damage, but it was driven away from the scene of the accident. The victim’s vehicle was totaled and legally parked after the incident.
