Owners of Cedars Restaurant and Lounge stepping down after 43 years
KENNEWICK, Wash. —
After 40-plus years, the owners of a longtime staple of the Tri-Cities restaurant community are saying goodbye.
Dave and Darci Mitcham announced on Facebook that this past weekend would be their final with Cedars Restaurant and Lounge in Kennewick.
The restaurant’s last day under their ownership was Saturday. It was closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to allow for the transition to take place.
Darci Mitcham told KAPP-KVEW that she and her husband are looking forward to taking a long break from work and driving south to spend time with family after missing countless holidays.
“We’re excited to take a breath after 43 years,” she said. “We’re looking forward to the future.”
Darci said they plan to hand over the keys to the new owners, Carrie and Doug Lundgren, on Monday or Tuesday. The Lundgrens are known for opening Holy Mac & Deli in Kennewick in 2015, which has since closed.
The Clover Island restaurant will reopen on Wednesday as Cedars at Pier One, a tribute to the restaurant’s original name – Cedars Pier One. However, staff and menu items are expected to stay the same.
