Pasco man sentenced to 20 years in prison for child pornography

A Pasco man was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for the production and receipt of child pornography.

Sergio Magana Jr., 26, was also given a lifetime term of supervised release and will have to register as a sex offender.

U.S. District Judge Salvador Mendoza Jr. sentenced him on Wednesday.

Authorities have been keeping tabs on Magana since 2014 after he was accused of raping a 14-year-old girl.

During the rape investigation, detectives received his phone from a third party. It contained pornographic images of a 15-year-old girl along with requests for her location. He also said he wanted to have sexual intercourse with her, according to a police report.

Further investigation found a pattern in which Magana would message underage girls on Facebook and subsequently try to meet or obtain photos of them, police said.

A jury found him guilty on Nov. 1 on one count of production and one count of receipt of child pornography.
