Patients react to Walla Walla General Hospital closure announcement
WALLA WALLA, Wash.- Adventist Health announced Monday that Walla Walla General Hospital will be closing its doors next month. Patients are now left wondering where they can go to receive care once the hospital closes.
Bob and Edna Ragsdale said they have been receiving services at the hospital’s clinic for over 20 years. “One word, bummer,” said Bob Ragsdale upon hearing the news of the closure. He said he has an appointment next month with a new doctor, adding that the hospital has not yet told him of any alternative healthcare options.
The closure will include all Adventist Health services in Walla Walla, including Walla Walla General Hospital, Adventist Health Home Care Services and Adventist Health Medical Group. It will not impact the Wheatland Village Retirement Center.
The hospital has over 400 employees who will be impacted by the closure.
KAPP-KVEW Local News attempted to contact hospital officials, seeking information on what hospital staff and patients should do next. There has not yet been a response.
