A trooper was outside his patrol car on a traffic stop when another vehicle struck the back of his vehicle then flipped on Monday, according to Washington State Patrol.

According to Trooper Chris Thorson, the other driver was taken into custody for DUI.

The right lane of eastbound I-82 was temporarily locked at the Union Gap exit because of the crash.

Thorson said there were no injuries.

Trooper Thorson later expressed that the trooper involved was okay, but this crash led to another three car crash that sent people to the hospital.

A press release from WSP explained that a 19-year-old girl, Kennedy Patterson of Bellevue, had been speeding and failed to stop for the crash ahead.
