A pedestrian was killed in a hit and run crash overnight about five miles west of Toppenish.

A male was walking north along the northbound lanes in the 3500 block of South Wapato Road when a vehicle mowed him over and killed him, then fled.

Neither the driver nor the victim have been identified.

Troopers could not provide a description of the suspect vehicle or say which way it fled.

Later that day, Hector Medina, 44, of Toppenish ran over the victim’s dead body lying in the roadway.

It is unknown how long the victim had been deceased when the second driver hit him.
Washington State Patrol got a call about the incident around 5:45 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal crash is under investigation, and charges are expected once the suspect is caught.
