Pedestrian’s body found along the side of I-84 east of The Dalles

THE DALLES, Ore. — A hit-and-run investigation was launched by Oregon State Police (OSP) when a pedestrian’s body was found on the side of I-84 early on the morning of Friday, August 19, 2022.

According to a notice from OSP officials, a trooper found the body around 9:00 a.m. near milepost 89, which is located just east of The Dalles on the popular roadway linking eastern Oregon and the Portland metro area.

Early findings from their investigation showed that the pedestrian was struck by an unidentified vehicle beween 4:00 a.m. to 5:20 a.m. that morning. Shortly after this realization, OSP Troopers located a vehicle belonging to the victim nearby and took a photo, which was shared by the agency via Twitter.

Now, they are turning to community members to ask for any further information on this accident. That could include a witness or anyone who traveled through The Dalles area along I-84 on August 19. OSP officials suggested that the driver heading through The Dalles that morning might have thought they struck an animal instead of a person.
