Pendleton woman arrested for homicide in Montana

BUTTE, Montana – A former Pendleton homeless woman was arrested in Butte, Montana for deliberate homicide, according to jail records.

23-year-old Susan Marie Criss was taken into custody for the homicide on Monday, January 20.

According to the Montana Standard, Criss killed 49-year-old Mark William Woodger – the father of her child that had been born just a few days prior to the murder.

KAPP-KVEW spoke with the Pendleton Police Chief Stuart who was familiar with Criss.

He tells us that Criss was arrested 10 times and had 11 citations between August of 2017 and October of 2019. He said most of the arrests were for trespassing.

Chief Stuart said Criss was known for having mental health issues and was often seen wandering around the community rambling while wearing “bigfoot-like” slippers and pajamas.

Criss is being held on $100,000 bail.
