Pilot escapes plane crash unharmed
PENDLETON, Ore. — At 8:41 a.m. Saturday the Pendleton Fire and Ambulance department was dispatched to the Eastern Oregon Airport after receiving reports of a plane crash.
When responders arrived on scene they found a single engine plane on its top, and the pilot self extricated himself to avoid injury.
According to Pendleton Fire Chief Mike Ciralo, “Since the plane was leaking fuel our Aircraft Crash and Rescue team began swiftly spraying foam on top of the plane to prevent a fire from breaking out.”
Crews were able to turn on over the plane, make sure all fuel was gone and the plane was then removed from the scene for repair.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
