Police arrest man who allegedly chased pedestrian with butcher’s knife
YAKIMA, Wash. — A 23-year-old man is accused of chasing a woman with a butcher’s knife and threatening to kill her in north Yakima.
The suspect was hiding behind a dumpster near the corner of 18th and Jerome Avenue when the woman walked by at about 9:10 p.m. Monday, police said.
He then yelled at the woman and started running after her, threatening to kill her, police said.
Police later found the man with a 12-inch knife and a sheath. He’s being held in Yakima County jail on suspicion of felony harassment, the Yakima Herald-Republic reports.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, is scheduled for a hearing in Yakima County Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon.
