Police arrest suspect in Hermiston man’s shooting death
HERMISTON, Ore. — Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the shooting death of a Hermiston man.
Tyree Houfmuse, 34, was taken into custody during a traffic stop around 2:35 p.m. on Monday. He was pulled over in the area of Highway 730 and Southshore Drive in Umatilla.
He’s accused of being involved in the shooting death of 38-year-old James Cragun, who was fatally shot at 525 SW 13th Pl. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police booked him at the Umatilla Jail in Pendleton for a warrant issued for his arrest earlier this month.
His arrest came as a joint effort by the Hermiston and Umatilla Police Department.
“Taking Mr. Houfmuse in custody without incident is a critical component in the investigation of the death of James Cragun,” said Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston.
No further information has been released.
