Police: Gang member arrested on gun charges
YAKIMA, Wash. — Yakima police and U.S. Marshals arrested a man and confiscated multiple firearms just two blocks from the city’s most recent homicide.
About half a dozen police cars and an officer carrying an assault rifle served a search warrant in the 1200 block of Roosevelt Avenue, according to a probable cause statement.
Detectives said the 18-year-old suspect is a known gang member and they believe the at least two of the guns found at his residence were stolen, the Yakima Herald-Republic reports.
He was booked into Yakima County jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm. The man is expected to make a preliminary appearance in Yakima County Superior Court on Thursday.
