Police: Man steals money from two US Bank locations in Kennewick
KENNEWICK, Wash. — The Kennewick Police Department is investigating thefts at two U.S. Bank locations on Thursday.
Officers initially responded to the US Bank on North Columbia Center Boulevard, located right by the Columbia Center Mall, for a report of a robbery around 1:10 p.m., said police spokesman Lt. Aaron Clem.
An investigation found that the suspect approached a teller and, after brief contact, left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.
In order to constitute a robbery, there must be a threat. In this case, there was no threat, so it is being classified as a theft.
While investigating the incident, officers learned that the US Bank at 303 W 1st Ave in Kennewick had been a victim of theft with similar circumstances about 11:50 a.m. Thursday morning.
Officers said they believe the same suspect is involved in both thefts. They released photos of the suspect on Facebook.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have information regarding either of these incidents is asked to call dispatch at 509-628-0333
