Woman was sleeping when she was shot and killed in Granger, investigators say
GRANGER, Wash. – Detectives in Yakima County said a woman in her 60s was killed in a drive-by shooting while she was sleeping inside a mobile home early Thursday morning.
Authorities received multiple 911 calls about gunshots on E Street between East Second and Third Streets around 12:45 a.m. One resident said they heard eight shots fired, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Casey Schilperoort.
The woman was found with a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her identity is being withheld until her autopsy is performed.
As of Thursday afternoon, deputies said they do not have a suspect or vehicle description. They also have no indication that the shooting was gang-related.
The sheriff’s office, Granger Police and Zillah Police all responded to the scene.
The sheriff’s office is handling the investigation.
