Pot Businesses Could Soon Be Banned in West Richland

One Year Since Marijuana Legalization, The Black Market Is Still Winning

West Richland City Council votes 4-3 to have the City Planning Commission draw up an ordinance for the banning of recreational marijuana businesses within city limits.

The vote came after a public hearing at tonight’s city council meeting.

That ordinance, which would ban the producing, processing and selling of marijuana, will then come back to the city council for a vote.

The ordinance takes up to 60 days to finalize.

West Richland has a pot moratorium in place that will expire Oct. 1st.

An extension to that moratorium will be discussed in next week’s city council meeting.

College Place banned marijuana businesses in it’s city, following Kennewick, Pasco and Yakima who have also banned pot businesses within city limits.
