PRESCOTT, Wash. — Sheriff’s deputies in Walla Walla County say they arrested a man on Saturday who minutes earlier attacked a woman with a knife and tried to rape her at her place of work.

Ahmed Mohamed, 41, was “booked into Walla Walla County Corrections on probable cause affidavit for Assault 1st Degree with Sexual Motivation and Theft 2nd Degree,” according to Chief Deputy Richard Schram with the Walla Walla County Sheriff’s Office.

The agency reports that deputies were dispatched around 8 a.m. Saturday to a convenience store at Vista Hermosa in the Prescott area. The deputies were requested to investigate an assault that had just happened.

Schram said Mohamed went into the store armed with a knife and carrying “improvised restraints.” He tried to lure the store clerk to the back of the store and threatened and attacked her with the knife.

The victim and her attacker struggled and ended up on the floor with the man on top of her, according to a news release. He then tried to force her to the restroom.

”Though being wounded multiple places from the knife attack, the tenacious victim was able to fight off her attacker, who then fled the store,” Schram said.

Deputies say they arrested Mohamed at his apartment about an hour after the attack. They also say they obtained a search warrant to collect evidence of the alleged attacker’s crimes.

“This is all the information we are releasing. If you witnessed anything and wish to assist with the investigation, please call Dispatch at 509-527-3265 and request to speak to a deputy; reference WWSO case number 2021-00004905,” Schram added.
