Prosser man charged with own mother’s murder held on $1 million bail
PASCO, Wash. — A Prosser man charged with the murder of his own mother, Estela Torres-Rodriguez, is being held in Franklin County on $1 million bail.
Clemente Rodriguez-Torres pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder in Franklin County Superior Court on Tuesday. His trial is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 2, 2019.
Rodriguez-Torres was arrested on a warrant after fleeing to Mexico, then attempting to re-enter the country at the border in southern California.
He and his father, the victim’s estranged husband Tiburcio Larios Rodriguez, are accused of violently killing the victim in late March.
Days after she went missing, the victim’s empty car was found at a rest stop along Highway 395 with blood in the trunk. Surveillance footage, among other evidence, tied both suspects to the crime.
Estela’s body has not been found.
Tiburtcio is believed to still be in Mexico. He remains wanted on a warrant for first-degree murder.
Clemente’s next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 5.
