Pump gas, give back to Tri-Cities children this fall without paying extra

TRI-CITIES, Wash. — Starting now through October 31st, any time you fill up your car with gas at a specific pump at Shell Stations, a portion will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Benton and Franklin Counties.

It’s an idea that started right here in the Tri-Cities by Sun Pacific Energy, who owns the many Sun Market / Shell Gas Station locations throughout the area. Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Benton and Franklin Counties Brian Ace said the Sun Pacific Energy employees thought up ‘The Giving Pump,’ and now it’s being implemented at Shell Stations nationwide.

According to their website, all of the charities that benefit from The Giving Pump support children’s causes. There are hundreds of stations participating throughout the US.

All you have to do is go to the pump with the purple signage and fill up your car. Ace said a portion of that purchase automatically goes to them.

“The great part about this campaign is it’s automatic, you pull up, you choose the giving pump, at any shell station, and just by pumping there you support local charity. The Boys and Girls Club is supported by our local community, businesses, and individuals, this is a great way where the business can give back, and you can give back by choosing the giving pump,” he said.

Ace said the proceeds will help with operating costs that allow them to help children throughout the Tri-Cities and Prosser.

All of the local, Tri-Cities Shells are participating and it doesn’t cost anything extra to donate.
