Residents lose everything in apartment fire over the weekend
KENNEWICK, Wash.– Tanglewood Apartments in Kennewick went up in flames on Saturday, leaving many residents with nothing left but the clothes on their back.
Cindy Lee Jukubiak and her 5-year old son were displaced by the fire, now with only a trunk full of belongings left to their names. Jukubiak recalls her ceiling collapsing and everything in her apartment being covered with debris and fiber glass.
“Praise the lord we made it out in time, praise the Lord there was a passerby who saw the smoke and had the good sense to knock on everyone’s door and get everyone out,” said Jukubiak.
Though the average cost of renter’s insurance is about $10, Jukubiak said she never got covered, a decision she now regrets.
“I did not have renters insurance so I am left with nothing,” she said.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire. It is unknown at this time.
