Richland begins construction of second dog park
Monday morning crews began leveling the area next to Paws-Abilities dog park.
The city of Richland has been fixing the current large dog park since it closed in September.
Phase two involves creating a second 2.5 acre large dog park adjacent to the current one. The city will rotate use, opening one park at a time to let the grass re-grow every few months.
Phil Pinard, Richland Parks and Public Facilities Manager, said the city will wait until both parks are done before opening one of them.
Although signs said the park will open April 1, Pinard said June 1 is a more realistic opening date.
The project budget is $125,000. The Tri-City Dog Park Society donated $35,000 to the project.
