Richland driver arrested for DUI after crashing truck, fleeing scene
RICHLAND, Wash. — Washington State Patrol Trooper Chris Thorson says a man was arrested Thursday night for driving under the influence after crashing his truck in Richland, and leaving the scene.
Washington State Patrol investigated the crash on I-182 at exit 5B in Richland around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday.
After the truck crashed into the embankment, it caught surrounding vegetation in the area on fire.
The Richland Fire Department told KAPP-KVEW that it’s very rare for vehicles to catch fire after they crash.
Trooper Thorson says the driver got out of the truck after crashing, and left the scene.
The Richland Police Department was able to find the driver in the area, and arrest him for DUI.
The name of the driver has not yet been released.
