RIDER ALERT – Transit Detours due to Veterans Processional
PASCO, Wash. – The American Veterans Traveling Tribute Processional is making its way through downtown Pasco and a number of streets will be closed, and many of the Ben Franklin Transit routes will be affected. Please visit bft.org to see the full descriptions and detour maps in the Rider Alerts section.
Additionally, all affected stops have been posted with notices of no service from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on May 24, 2017.
The City of Pasco will be setting up roadblocks at 2:45 p.m. along the entire length of the parade route. At that time, there will have limited access to those areas until about 3:00 p.m. to complete routes that are affected into the transit center. Pasco Police Department has advised that there will not be any passenger stops inside the parade route after 2:45 p.m. Pasco Police Department also advised that the parade should be complete by 4:00 p.m.
Following is more information about specific detours for each affected route.
62 Route – Beginning at 2:30 p.m. the 62 route will be on detour shortcutting at 3rd/Bonneville and bypassing the downtown area.
64 & 65 Route – Will be able to complete the outbound portion of the routes, but once they turn around on the East side they will not be able to complete their inbound trip. We have clearance to have them escorted by a supervisor through the Lewis St tunnel, but we will then have to deviate them up 1st Ave to Court St and Deadhead into the Transit Center. Once at the Transit Center the 64 and 65 routes will be out of service until the parade is complete at around 4:00 p.m.
66 Route – The 66 Route inbound arriving at 22nd Transit Center at about 2:45 p.m. will have to be escorted into the transit center by a supervisor from 40th and Sylvester. No passenger stops will be allowed from 40th to the Transit Center. The 66 inbound and outbound will then go on detour until Sylvester St is opened back up.
67 Route – 67 Route will be on detour inbound and outbound beginning at 2:45 p.m. until the parade is clear of 36th Ave.
120 Route – Will be on detour from 2:45 p.m. until the parade is clear of Sylvester St.
160 Route – Access to 22nd Transit Center will be cut off beginning at 2:45 p.m. Starting with the 2:30 p.m. trip from Dayton St Transit Center eastbound, the 160 will complete their Columbia St portion in Pasco and then turn around and complete the route back to Dayton St. This will put them back at Dayton St Transit Center about 30 minutes early so they will drop all passengers and hold over on Auburn until their appropriate time at Dayton Transit Center.
Any passengers needing to connect to Pasco from Kennewick will need to board the 120 eastbound from Huntington. This will be the only Kennewick to Pasco and Pasco to Kennewick connection available until the parade is complete.
Supervisors will be on site in Pasco monitoring the situation and updating the routes and detours as roads open back up.
All affected stops have been posted with notices of no service from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. to give us a cushion in case the parade runs long.
