Seahawks mascot Blitz, Sea Gal coming to Davis High in Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks mascot Blitz is coming to A.C. Davis High School in Yakima for an assembly on Apr. 26, and he’ll be joined by a Sea Gal.
The event will celebrate the implementation of Fuel Up to Play 60, the dairy community’s flagship school nutrition and physical activity wellness program.
It will take place Wednesday at 10 a.m.
FUTP60 is a program that encourages students to make healthier food choices like putting dairy into their breakfast and exercising more. It’s sponsored by the Dairy Farmers of Washington and the Seattle Seahawks.
The program has reportedly worked with over 1,900 Washington schools, and that number continues to rise.
Yakima School District has already implemented FUTP60 in all 14 of its elementary schools. Each school is starting a smoothie program with funding from the program to ensure every student starts their day with a healthy breakfast.
Funding also goes toward physical education equipment for the students.
“Dairy farmers produce delicious, healthful products that kids love,” said Michelle Schilter, Chair of the Dairy Farmers of Washington Board of Directors. “We are excited to celebrate the importance of dairy nutrition in students’ lives in a fun and positive way that instills healthy eating habits.”
