Search suspended for Moses Lake hiker who went missing in wilderness
SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — It’s been about three weeks since Rachel Lakoduk went missing in the Skagit County wilderness.
The 28-year-old from Moses Lake was last seen Thursday, Oct. 17 on the Hidden Lake trail in the Cascade Mountains. The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office has deployed teams of ground and aerial searchers from around the state to find her.
After an unsuccessful search over the weekend, the sheriff’s office announced Wednesday that search efforts have been suspended.
The sheriff’s office wrote the following their Facebook page:
iFIBER ONE News reported that Lakoduk’s car was found near the Hidden Lake trailhead. Her family told the new station that she was trying to hike seven miles to a lookout point.
There was adverse weather during Lakoduk’s hike, and crews believed she may have been snowed in at a cabin along the trail, but she was not there. Her family is fearing the worst.
Lakoduk is 5′ 4″, 130 pounds with brown eyes, freckles and elbow-length curly red hair.
