Serious-injury rollover crash in Finley sends two to Harborview and one remains at Kadlec
FINLEY, Wash. — Three people were rushed to the hospital on Sunday afternoon after a serious rollover crash in Finley.
It happened on Lechelt and Piert Roads, near Highway 397 before 2 p.m. According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, three people were ejected from the car. Two were unconscious when deputies arrived.
One person was taken to the hospital by Life Flight and the others were transported by ambulance.
Deputies say two women and one man were involved. According to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, the woman transported to them by helicopter is in critical condition. Their names have not been released.
We are at the scene of a serious injury rollover collision on Piert Road in Finley. Piert Rd will be closed for the next few hours between SR 397 and Lechelt.
Investigators say the vehicle rolled over and landed with its wheels up. They are looking into what caused the crash, but believe speed was a contributor.
“We believe speed was a factor based on the length of the scene but as far as alcohol or drugs, we don’t have any of that information right now,” said Sgt. Carlos Trevino, Benton County Sheriff deputy.
The speed limit in the area where the accident occurred is 35 mph.
Due to the ejection of the victims, deputies are looking into whether or not they were wearing their seatbelts.
“It’s not unusual depending on the speed and what the vehicle was doing– it is possible that they could’ve come out of their seatbelts or that their seatbelt broke,” Trevino said. “So at this point, it’s too early to know but that’s another thing we’ll be looking at.”
Nearby witnesses spoke to investigators. Deputies also found home surveillance cameras that may have caught the accident on film.
The names and ages of the victims have not been released. Deputies say the family has been notified.
The road will be closed for several hours as they investigate.
