Sex offender released to Wapato less than 3 years after rape conviction

WAPATO, Wash. – A man who was convicted of third-degree rape in May 2017 has been released to Wapato, according to a news release from the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.

Marvin Ellis Hammigan, 53, is now living on the 100 block of E. Second St., the sheriff’s office said Friday.

He is a level 2 sex offender, meaning he is considered a moderate risk for committing another sex crime.

He has served his sentence and is not wanted by law enforcement at this time. The sheriff’s office is releasing this information to promote safety by keeping the public informed.
