Shane DeWeber Sentencing Postponed

Sentencing for a man found guilty of assault for crashing into two police cars back in 2013 is postponed to next week.

The prosecution asked that Shane DeWeber serve 10 years in prison.

The state believes his actions deliberately targeted law enforcement officials.

One of the police officers whose cars was crashed into, said DeWeber should serve as much time as possible because he intended to hurt police, although she was not in the car at the time.

DeWeber apologized to her and another officer today and said he was ready to turn his life around.

The defense brought up a new point today.

It believes the state cannot ask for a sentence outside the standard range because of some missing points on the verdict form that was presented to the jury.

The prosecution wants a chance to look over that, so the judge postponed the sentencing to next Wednesday.
