Sheriff’s office employee arrested in attempted kidnapping case is being held on $350K bail
ELLENSBURG, Wash. — A public records clerk at the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office was arrested shortly after midnight Wednesday on charges of criminal solicitation of kidnapping and assault, according to Ellensburg Police Capt. Dan Hansberry.
Kallee Knudson, 28, of Ellensburg appeared in Kittitas County Superior Court Wednesday where her bail was set at $350,000.
Knudson was arrested following a two-week investigation by the Ellensburg Police Department. Police said she attempted to hire people to commit several crimes, the most serious being first-degree kidnapping and first-degree assault.
She was taken into custody as she entered a victim’s residence where police were already waiting for her, police said.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges will likely be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for consideration in the coming weeks. For that reason, police said they are unable to provide further details.
Kittitas County Undersheriff Clay Myers told KAPP-KVEW Knudson is on paid administrative leave pending a review of the criminal investigation and an preliminary internal investigation.
Knudson has worked for the sheriff’s office for approximately five years.
