Officers shoot armed person who confronted them in Umatilla County, troopers say

UMATILLA COUNTY, Ore. – The Oregon State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Monday night near Umapine.

Authorities received a 911 call about shots fired in the Umapine area at about 11:44 p.m. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and Milton-Freewater Police responded.

An armed person confronted the officers outside of a home when they arrived. Two officers opened fire, striking and injuring the suspect.

The suspect was taken to a hospital with injuries. His condition was not immediately available.

No names have been released.

OSP is handling the investigation in coordination with Pendleton Police. The Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office is overseeing the investigation and will release more details at a later time.
