Shooting suspect of 14-year-old boy appears in court
YAKIMA, Wash. — A man accused of killing a 14-year-old Union Gap boy is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
Luiz Alfredo Barrera, 23, is charged with first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. Violent Offender Task Force members arrested him around 3:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of South 16th Avenue on Friday in connection with the drive-by killing of Kabin Smith.
He’s scheduled to stand before a judge at 1:30 p.m. for a preliminary appearance in Yakima Count Superior Court, the Yakima Herald-Republic reports.
The killing took place on Apr. 24 near the corner of Cornell Avenue and West King Street.
